Sheffield City Centre
Better than many a city centre hotel - 24-hour onsite management, CCTV and gated car parking

A family room at the Lalbagh
The Lalbagh Bed and Breakfast is about half a mile from the very heart of Sheffield. Bus services 75/76/97/98/7 from Arundel Gate Interchange pass the bottom of Minna Road 80 metres from the guest house. Services 47/48 from the train station and main Sheffield Interchange pass the top of Minna Road about 200 metres away. Sheffield bus timetables are online. Peak service frequency around 2 1/2 minutes - journey time four minutes, six stops.
All buses from the City Centre past the Lalbagh Guest House continue to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
The Lalbagh is also on late night bus routes for snooker events and plays at the Crucible, Lyceum and Studio, for Sheffield Arena and for the O2 Academy.

Fiften minutes to Sheffield City Centre - 4:00pm on a Thursday
Buses to Sheffield City Centre take two or three minutes or it's a fifteen minute walk through parks down Pitsmoor Road - passing the Harlequin (live music most days) on the bank of the Don and Kelham Island. The 75/76/97/98 bus routes pass close by Sheffield Hallam University and some of Sheffield's best live music venues.
There are six places of worship within ten minutes' walk, including two multi-denominational Christian churches and two mosques.
The guest house has five bedrooms, all renovated in November 2008:
All beds are changed daily, even for long stay residents. Each room has a washbasin, television and kettle.
There's no "Resident's Lounge", but there is a couch in the dining room and no "out by" and "not in before" rule. Late arrivals from theatres, live music and snooker no problem - 24-hour staffing.
Breakfast
All included in the tariff.
Evening meals - by arrangement at a small charge. We tend to eat late. Microwave and oven access is available free of charge - there is a good Tesco Express (until 23:00 seven days a week) on the way back from the City Centre for instant meals, pizzas, etc., a good Co-op Food Hall and the legendary (and justly so) Sheffield Castle Market near the City Centre bus stop.
The Lalbagh is unlicensed. There are four pubs (normal hours) and an off-licence (until 21:30) within three minutes' walk up Minna Road and Pitsmoor Road.
Sorry - no pets. Snowy - the resident Cacatua alba - resents anything with a tail that can't fly and says so. Loudly.
Sadly, we have no wheelchair access. The Lalbagh is at the end of a short terrace on a slight hill, so the ground floor is a few feet above ground level. Plans for a ramp are in hand, but not until late 2009.
Off-road (gated) parking is available.
